Eagles Sweep Texas College in Dominant Conference Opener

HOOKS, Texas- Texas A&M University-Texarkana Baseball swept the Texas College Steers in their conference opener series (18-0,10-3,10-4). With outstanding starting pitching for the Eagles and great overall hitting by the team, the Eagles jumped out to early leads in all 3 games and never looked back.

 Game 1

Texas A&M-Texarkana showcased a dominant pitching performance against Texas College, utilizing a total of seven pitchers to limit the Steers to just five hits while preventing them from scoring any runs. The strategic use of multiple arms kept the opposing offense in check, ensuring a shutout victory for the Eagles. Their pitching staff displayed depth and control, making it difficult for Texas College to gain any offensive momentum.

Offensively, the Eagles were led by Brandon Riley, who delivered an impressive performance by hitting two home runs. His power at the plate provided a significant boost to the team's offensive production. Jonathan Rios also contributed to the scoring with a home run of his own, further solidifying Texas A&M-Texarkana's lead. The team's ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities helped create a comfortable margin of victory.

In addition to the home runs, Freddie Madera made a solid impact by going 2-for-2 at the plate and adding an RBI. His consistent hitting added to the team's overall offensive efficiency. The combination of strong pitching and timely hitting allowed Texas A&M-Texarkana to secure a convincing win, demonstrating both their depth on the mound and their power at the plate.

Game 2

Texas A&M-Texarkana secured a dominant 10-3 victory over Texas College, thanks in large part to a strong pitching performance from Gage Mason. Mason controlled the game from the mound, pitching six solid innings while allowing only three hits and no runs. He also recorded four strikeouts, keeping Texas College's offense in check and earning the win for the Eagles. His performance set the tone for the game and gave the team a strong foundation to build upon offensively.

The Eagles' offense was led by Austin Kerns, who had an impressive day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. His ability to drive in runs helped extend Texas A&M-Texarkana's lead and put pressure on the Texas College pitching staff. Brandon Riley also contributed significantly, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs, continuing his strong offensive production. Their combined efforts helped power the Eagles' lineup and ensure a comfortable victory.

In addition to Kerns and Riley, Bobby Velasco, Jose Parreno, and James Provencio all recorded multiple hits in the game, highlighting the depth of the Eagles' offensive attack. Their contributions helped keep the pressure on Texas College throughout the game. With a combination of dominant pitching and a well-rounded offensive effort, Texas A&M-Texarkana delivered a convincing win and showcased their ability to excel on both sides of the game.

Game 3

Texas A&M-Texarkana earned a solid 10-4 victory over Texas College, with starting pitcher Blake Taylor leading the way on the mound. Taylor pitched six strong innings, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out four to secure the win. His performance provided the Eagles with a stable foundation, keeping the Steers' offense in check for most of the game.

Out of the bullpen, Frank Tinoco, Zachry Moore, and Marcus Tidwell combined to close out the game, allowing only three runs on three hits. Their ability to limit Texas College's scoring opportunities helped the Eagles maintain their lead and finish the game strong. The pitching staff's overall effectiveness ensured that the early advantage built by the offense was never in jeopardy.

Offensively, Jose Parreno and Conner Owens led the way with two hits each, helping to drive the Eagles' scoring efforts. However, a key factor in their 10-run performance was their patience at the plate, as Texas College pitchers struggled with control and issued 10 walks. This disciplined approach allowed Texas A&M-Texarkana to take advantage of scoring opportunities and secure a comfortable win.
