Four Eagles Earn All-Conference Honors, Kerns Named Freshman of the Year

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Baseball program had four Eagles earn All-Conference honors for the 2024–25 season. The Eagles received one First Team selection, two Second Team selections, and a major individual award—Freshman of the Year. Additionally, the team had one player named to the RRAC Champions of Character Team.

First Team All-Conference Selection

Senior outfielder Brandon Riley earned the Eagles' lone First Team All-Conference selection. Riley posted an impressive .392 batting average with 40 hits, 22 RBIs, a .492 on-base percentage, and a .598 slugging percentage over 102 at-bats.

Second Team All-Conference Selections

Freshman Austin Kerns, who was also named RRAC Freshman of the Year, and senior Freddie Madera were both named to the Second Team All-Conference.

Kerns, the Eagles' second baseman, ranked second in the RRAC with 13 home runs and 114 total bases, and fifth in RBIs with 51. He finished the season with a .351 batting average, 60 hits, 51 RBIs, a .469 on-base percentage, and a .667 slugging percentage across 171 at-bats.

Madera, the team's shortstop, recorded a .387 batting average with 41 hits, including 11 doubles and 21 RBIs. He posted a .507 on-base percentage and a .491 slugging percentage over 106 at-bats. Defensively, he held a .938 fielding percentage with 47 putouts, 73 assists, and 12 double plays.

Champions of Character Team Selection

Senior captain Jonathan Rios was named to the RRAC Champions of Character Team, capping off the postseason honors for the Eagles.
