Eagles Battle Hard, Fall to 5th-Ranked LSU-Alexandria Generals, 77-72

ALEXANDRIA, La. - The Eagles traveled to Alexandria, Louisiana, to take on the 5th-ranked LSU-Alexandria Generals, who currently lead the Red River Athletic Conference with an impressive 15-1 overall record (12-1 RRAC). Despite a valiant effort, the Eagles fell short in a 77-72 loss at The Fort.

The matchup between the two teams was neck-and-neck statistically, but turnovers proved to be the decisive factor. The Generals forced the Eagles into 18 turnovers and capitalized with 18 points, while the Eagles managed only 11 points off the Generals' 9 errors.

LSU-Alexandria started strong, taking an early lead in the first half after a three-pointer by Kashie Natt. However, two free throws by Jyrin Sowell brought the Eagles back within one. The teams traded baskets throughout the first half, but a timeout by the Generals shifted the momentum. LSUA went on a 13-4 run, opening up their largest lead of the night at 32-23 with five minutes remaining in the half. The Eagles responded with an 11-6 run to close out the half, heading into the break trailing by just four, 38-34.

The second half was even tighter, with the Generals outscoring the Eagles by a single point (39-38). With six minutes left in regulation, Rodney Mason II sank two free throws to tie the game at 60. However, a crucial three-point play by Kashie Natt late in the game gave the Generals the momentum they needed to secure the victory.

Daryl Houston led the Eagles with a career-high 17 points on 6-10 shooting from the field and 5-6 from the free-throw line. Payton Chism also contributed 11 points, while Rodney Mason II dished out 5 assists.

Despite the loss, the Eagles remain in fourth place in the RRAC standings with a 10-5 overall record (9-4 RRAC). They will look to bounce back this Saturday, January 11, when they face the LSU-Shreveport Pilots. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM at The Dock in Shreveport, Louisiana.
