STAFFORD, Texas– Texas A&M University-Texarkana men's basketball closed out the regular season with a hard-fought 71-65 road win over North American on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing by six at halftime, the Eagles outscored the Stallions 38-26 in the second half to secure the victory. Raymond Moore led the charge with a dominant 23-point performance, shooting 10-of-14 from the field. Payton Chism contributed 10 points and seven assists, while Rodney Mason II added 11 points and six rebounds.
TAMUT shot 41.3% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range, improving their free-throw shooting to 70% in the second half. Despite North American winning the rebounding battle 35-33, the Eagles capitalized on second-chance opportunities and turnovers to seal the win.
The Eagles finish the regular season at 19-9 (16-8 in conference play) and now shift focus to the postseason. Men's Basketball clenched a #4 seed in the conference tournament, and will face off against the Pilots of LSU-Shreveport in the quarterfinals on Friday, February 28 at 8 a.m. at the Rapides Coliseum in Alexandria, Louisiana.
