Eagles Open Season with Tie vs Nelson University

The TAMUT Eagles opened their season at home against Nelson University on August 24^th at Morgan Field. Nelson entered the match with a season record of 1-0.

Nelson opened the contest with a goal early in the match. Jan Zapata headed the ball into the net on an assist from Ethan Stewart at the 11-minute mark. The Eagles would even the score a few minutes later when Oluwafisayo Oduwole scored on an assist by Diego Picano in the 17^th minute.

The game remained close as Nelson managed to get off 11 shots, none of which got past the Eagles keeper, Seth Jones. The Eagles Managed to put up 6 shots but were unable to put any more past the Nelson goaltender. The Eagles best scoring chance came on a penalty kick but the shot sailed well over the net resulting in a 1-1 draw between the two teams.

The Eagles season will continue on Tuesday, August 27^th with a match at home against Williams Baptist at 7:00 p.m.
