Women's opener halted at the half, declared forfeit by CBC
The Texas A&M-Texarkana women's soccer team had their 2023 season opener cut short when visiting Central Baptist (Ark.) was unable to field a complete lineup for the second half Saturday. The result was recorded as a 1-0 forfeit win for the Eagles.
With temperatures hovering around 110 degrees at kickoff, the teams were able to get a full half in the books, but CBC suffered an injury that limited them to 10 players and the game was called. A match must reach the 70-minute mark to qualify as a complete contest.
The Eagles had outscored Central Baptist 3-1 in the first half.
FIRST HALF GOALS
It didn't take long for the Eagles to get on the board as Dulce Memije put one in the net just three minutes into the match. Midway through the half, Desiree Narvaez made it 2-0 and reigning RRAC Offensive Player of the Year Alyssa Daily added a third Eagle goal. The Mustangs scored just before the half ended.
NEXT UP
